RFIDNeed more information about RFID? Click here for our RFID information guide. Read More RFID is a big buzzword these days; however, RFID is not new. RFID has been in use for more than 30 years in one shape or another. We are just getting better at applying RFID to real world problems at a reasonable cost. Types of RFIDRFID can be either active or passive. An active RFID tag has an internal power source and has a longer range due to its internal power source. A passive RFID tag is nothing more than a small chip with an antenna. These passive tags require the energy of an RFID interrogator to supply energy to the tags antenna which then powers up the tiny chip for communication. Common RFID frequenciesRFID is commonly used in many frequencies including 125 Khz, 13.56 Mhz, 433 Mhz, 900Mhz and 2.4 Ghz.
